Come join us in this amazing natural experience on one of Charleston's most pristine & beautiful barrier islands. The course weaves through sun bleached eroded trees and tidal pools of the 'Bone Yard' beach.  Common wildlife sightings include bottlenose dolphin, sand dollars, starfish, lots of shells, osprey, pelicans and even possibly bald eagles.
The ECOrun is designed to encourage an active and healthy ECOconscious lifestyle while providing a unique opportunity to experience nature while benefiting not only oneself, but also extending to others in real need within the local Charleston community.

Coach Noah Moore, USA Track & Field Level 1 Coach:  "Anytime you have to take a ferry to an island to run a race you know it's going to be an adventure...We had just as much fun running back as we did going out.  When we got to the end we ran over the 'finish line' and called out our names (no need for bibs).  After that Peyton and Jen got in the water  and cooled off.  It was so much fun to just hangout on the beach and watch the other runners coming in...I was really impressed with the fact that this race was so low key; but so well organized."  For more check out the ECOrun RECAP on Moore On Running's Blog

CHARITABLE IMPACT
Since 2010, the Capers ECOruns have raised over $6,350 helping serve over 4,250 warm meals for the hungry in the Charleston community and I am highly motivated to achieve even more with your help to be of greater benefit.

The Charleston Chefs' 'Feed the Need' program is a coalition of over 50 philanthropic and socially conscious restaurants that  have committed prepare meals one day a week during the year at (4) local non-profit food providers; Crisis Ministries, Tricounty Family Ministries, East Cooper Meals on Wheels and the Neighborhood House.

Below are a couple press releases about the Feed the Need Program: the first is about the compassionate motivation of how this grassroots program came into being, and the second is from Sermet's Courtyard's turn in March 2011 at the Neighborhood House in downtown Charleston where we served over 100 meals.

DETAILS
Please arrive 30 minutes before the posted start time to check in prior to the ferry departure from the Isle of Palms Marina at 80 41st Ave, IOP, SC 29451.  The Marina parking fee is $3 so I encourage you to carpool, ride a bike, not only to save some ca$h but more importantly to reduce the carbon footprint of the event.  In an extra effort, I will sincerely appreciate it you bring $3 or more in canned & dry goods instead of $3 in Federal Reserve Notes to increase the nourishing impact of the of Capers ECOruns.  Spectators are welcome to join in the Capers ECOrun experience to cheer for their favorites but since there's a limited space on the ferry, they'll need to register too.

Thank you for sharing in the
2013 Earth Day Capers ECOrun experience!

Trust everyone had a great experience in the windiest ECOrun ever & appreciated being out on Capers with so much of Mother Nature's energy flowing all around us on EARTH DAY.  A special thanks to the winning bidder, Dave Rearick, who won the bid for a delicious Mediterranean meal at Sermets Courtyard on Daniels Island.
Much thanks to Sermet too!
The heaviest sustained winds also brought in the most canned goods of ANY ECOrun!  For the record:
90 cans,
8 pasta/carb boxes,
4 pasta sauce bottles,
1) 3# rice bag,
3 dressing bottles,
1 cereal box &
 1 cake box.
AMAZING, Many Thanks!
